About Image Quality Settings
The quality slider controls how your image is processed during conversion to ICO format. Different settings affect various image formats differently:
Impact by Format
- JPG/JPEG: Directly affects compression level, detail preservation, and artifact reduction.
- PNG: Influences color handling, transparency quality, and edge sharpness when scaled.
- WEBP: Controls compression ratio, detail preservation, and transparency handling.
- GIF: Affects color quantization and dithering when converting to ICO format.
Recommended Settings
- High (90-100%): Best for logos with fine details, text, or sharp edges.
- Standard (75-89%): Good balance of quality and file size for most images.
- Low (60-74%): Prioritizes smaller file size, suitable for simple graphics.
Note: For website favicons, file size impacts load time, while quality affects how recognizable your icon appears in browser tabs and bookmarks.
